Max the Brave & a Giveaway

This is a book I have been stoked about from the moment I laid eyes on it oh-so-many months ago! When I received my copy in the mail, I immediately started dancing around the room and taking pictures! My fur friend Mini Meow came to check out the goodies too. He also deigned to pose for a picture with the Max the Brave cape I received! We had fun - just the two of us!!

Not only did my cat love the book, but so did I! Tell all your friends about this book; shout it from the roof tops. It is the perfect combination of story, illustration, and humor! One of my favorite aspects of this book is the fact that every animal Max talks to is one that you might find a cat stalking or chasing in real life. I find something new to fall in love with every time I read this book, and you will too! I will definitely be using this book in future story times! It most definitely earns a diamond on my rating scale, in my humble opinion.

For those of you who may have missed my previous post about the book, here's the summary and a little about the author!

Max is a fearless kitten. Max is a brave kitten. Max is a kitten who chases mice. There's only one problem - Max doesn't know what a mouse looks like! With a little bit of bad advice, Max finds himself facing a much bigger challenge. Maybe Max doesn't have to be Max the Brave all the time...

Join this adventurous black cat as he very politely asks a variety of animals for help in finding a mouse. Young readers will delight in Max's mistakes, while adults will love the subtle, tongue-in-cheek humor of this new children's classic.

Ed Vere is an author, artist and illustrator with a long track record of success in the picture book category. Max the Brave was named one of The Sunday Times's 100 Modern Children's Classics. His book Bedtime for Monsters was shortlisted for the 2011 Roald Dahl Funny Prize and Mr. Big was chosen by Booktrust as the official Booktime book for 2009 (and was distributed to 750,000 British schoolchildren making it the largest single print run of a picture book). Vere was the World Book Day illustrator for 2009.

If you're interested in owning a copy, be sure to the enter the giveaway below! It ends October 31.

  1. Such an amazing book for kids! I do like the Max story. Children are prone to like kittens and especially their adventures. My little Audrey is still playing with our Spiky day and night. She takes him to school as well, though the teachers are against it. I think she'll be more wise next time and leave him at home.
